The Kindred Cochrane Pride Society will be hosting an all-ages drag show on Aug. 18 as part of Cochrane’s first-ever Pride Week celebration. Kindred Cochrane Pride Society is bringing several prominent performers of the genre, including Valerie Hunt, Ofelia Vidal, Smother Theresa and more. The event will take place at Community Flatbread Co. at 185 1st St. in Cochrane. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the show runs until 8 p.m. The event is free to attend, but because of COVID restrictions, space is limited. COCHRANE FREEBIES LOOKS TO HELP LOCAL ECONOMY
A new business has popped up in Cochrane to promote local shopping and to help kick-start the local economy in the wake of the COVID-19 lockdown. Cochrane Freebies is offering free boxes of goodies from local businesses to local residents. The contents of each box include gift cards, coupons, and promotional items from businesses in Cochrane. There are a limited number of boxes available, so members of the public are encouraged to reach out to [email protected] to reserve one. The sign-up period to receive a box will be open during the last week of August and the first week of September. Boxes will be delivered shortly after that period.
ROCKY VIEW COUNTY LOOKS TO FILL ASSESSMENT REVIEW BOARD SEATS
Rocky View County is looking to fill four seats on the county’s Assessment Review Board. The Assessment Review Board is a quasi-judicial, impartial tribunal that makes decisions regarding property assessment complaints. All members of the board must be Rocky View County residents, and the appointment can last up to three years.
