RCMP asking for public's assistance in identifying suspects

The Cochrane RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying two suspects following a theft from a local pub of more than $14,000.

COCHRANE— The Cochrane RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying two suspects responsible for a theft that took place on Aug. 9.

The pair, a male and female, entered a Cochrane Pub at 10:50 p.m. together, and while the female distracted the staff, the male took $14,000 from the cash drawer.

RCMP Cpl. Troy Savinkoff said that it was likely that the pair had a plan, and could have been inside the establishment prior to the theft.

“It certainly appears that they had a plan on how they were going to execute this, and I would suspect that they had some knowledge about the bar and on staffing levels,” he said.

Savinkoff said that the RCMP hasn’t yet determined whether or not the suspects are locals or came from outside of the community.

The male suspect is described as Caucasian, 35 years of age, has a slim build, and was wearing a green bucket hat.

The female is described as Caucasian, 35 years of age, roughly 5’4” and 140 lbs. During the theft she was wearing all white.

Savinkoff said that the RCMPs requests for public assistance are often successful in identifying suspects.

“Some people might recognize them, or know of them and their behaviours and might have something to contribute to us to our investigation,” he said. “That gives us a really good starting point to put something together and to try to lay some appropriate charges on them.”

If you have any information regarding this theft, you are asked to contact Cochrane RCMP at 403-932-2211 or your local police. If you wish to remain anonymous, you can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), online at P3Tips.com or by using the "P3 Tips" app available through the Apple App or Google Play Store.
