The comeback is complete. Trailing the Medicine Hat Cubs three games to one in their best-of-seven Heritage Junior Hockey League (HJHL) series, the Cochrane Generals won Game 5 by a score of 3-2 in overtime on March 1, took Game 6 by a 6-2 margin to tie the series on March 2 and then completed the comeback with a 4-1 victory tonight in Game 7.

Cochrane got a first period goal off a Patrick Forde deflection when he directed a point shot from one of the Cugnet brothers past the Medicine Hat goaltender. Forde then got his second of the night, stripping a Cubs defender and firing a shot into the net making it 2-0 in favour of the home team. Sam Norris got in on the fun and made it 3-0 for the Gens, which was quickly answered by a Cubs goal.

It was as close as Medicine Hat would come though, as Cochrane locked it down in the third, only allowing a handful of quality scoring chances allowing Brandon Aab to score the empty net goal to put the game on ice at 4-1.

The Generals will now play the league-leading Okotoks Bisons in the third round of the playoffs. Dates for the games have yet to be determined.
