After losing a 3-2 decision last night in Cochrane to fall behind in their second round Heritage Junior Hockey League (HJHL) best-of-seven playoff series with the Medicine Hat Cubs, the Cochrane Generals went into Game 4 tonight needing a bounce back performance in Medicine Hat.

It didn't come as the Cubs took the game by a score of 5-3. Cochrane opened the scoring off a power play goal from Justin Giacomin off a pass from Brandon Aab early in the second period. Medicine Hat responded shortly thereafter with a goal of their own to knot the game at one. Dean Olenyk made it 2-1 in favour of the visitors, their final lead of the game.

The Cubs once again tied the game just seconds after Olenyk's goal and went to work. Cochrane survived the remainder of the second period but Medicine Hat got back to back goals at 17:29 and 16:52 of the third period to go up 4-2 and then scored minutes later on the power play to stretch the lead to three. Olenyk notted his second of the game to make it 5-3 but it was too little, too late for the Gens.

Medicine Hat has now won three games in a row after Cochrane opened up the series with a Game 1 victory, but now face the brink of elimination down three games to one.

Game 5 will take place in Cochrane on March 5 with puck drop taking place at 5:30 p.m.
