JOHNSON, Kimberly ‘Kim’ Elaine

March 6, 1971 – April 2, 2020

It is with profound sadness that the family of Kim Johnson (Shiman) announces her peaceful passing on April 2, 2020, in Calgary, Alberta.

Kim will be lovingly remembered and missed by her husband Bill, son Tyson (Bryan), daughter Jennifer, Brother Randy (Allison) and family, and mother-in law Gloria, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents Walter and Connie Shiman as well as her father-in law Fred Johnson.

Kim was born on March 6, 1971 in Calgary and lived in multiple communities including Canmore, Drayton Valley, Ultimately settling in Cochrane. When she was young, she discovered the sport of figure skating, which she ultimately excelled at until her teens. She was always active and participated in many extra-curricular activities throughout her school years. Always the social butterfly, she was loved by her peers and always enjoyed many friendships whom she treated just like family. She graduated from Cochrane High School and went on to receive a post-secondary diploma as a legal secretary, where she worked for multiple law firms. Unfortunately, she exhibited symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis early in her life, which eventually forced her to give up the career she loved so much. The disease; however, did not stop her from raising two beautiful children. Despite the mobility difficulties, she was full of life and always found a way to support and care for her family in every facet. The kids enjoyed many outings where they were able to ride their bikes as she followed on her mobility scooter, never deterred.

Due to the current isolation restrictions, a celebration of Kim’s life will be held at a later date. An announcement will be published in the Cochrane Eagle later.

A special thank you goes out to the caregivers of Cochrane Home Care and Rockyview Private Health care, who provided her with care and true companionship over the last few years.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada https://mssociety.ca/
