SICZEK, Karl Joseph

June 27, 1943 – Alpen Siding, Alberta

September 25, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Karl Joseph Siczek, beloved husband of Pauline Siczek (nee Yaceyko), of Cochrane, AB, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2020 at the age of 77 years.

Dad was born on a farm, in Alpen Siding, AB, and spent his teen years living with the Malloy family on a farm near Leduc.  In his early 20s he went to NAIT and completed his Mechanical Engineering. It was there that he met Mom and they were married in 1965. Soon after their wedding they moved from Edmonton to Redwater where Dad started working for Esso Resources. In 1968 he and mom moved to Swan Hills and he continued to work for Esso Resources for the next fourteen years. In 1982 he accepted a position, with Esso Chemicals, as an Instrument Technician at the fertilizer plant in Redwater. They moved into Redwater and eventually they purchased an acreage just outside of Redwater where Dad was in ‘his happy place’. He and mom loved it out there. All of their grandchildren have very happy memories of time spent there. They then moved to Fort Saskatchewan and eventually to Cochrane.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of our Dad (Gido). He was a gentle, loving soul that would do anything to help anyone.  His smile would light up a room.  He loved to socialize and would welcome anyone into his home with a smile and hug and offer a drink the minute they walked in the door. He was known to give “The Best Hugs” by everyone who knew him. He spent his leisure time volunteering for the Parish Council, Knights of Columbus, and doing church maintenance. He loved woodworking, hobby farming, spending time with family and friends and barbequing. He was an amazing man, loved by all!

Karl is survived by his loving wife of fifty-five years, Pauline Siczek, daughter Sharon (Duane) Boyce of Cochrane, sons, Paul (Hester) Siczek of Vancouver, BC, and Don (Charlene) Siczek of Hinton, AB; three grandchildren, Kristopher (Juliet) Boyce, Joslynn (Brad) Bay, and Evan Siczek; two great-grandchildren, Donald and Bensen Boyce;  sisters, Carol (Jacques) Ouellet of Creston, BC, Stefania (Milo) Thompson of Swan Hills, AB; foster brother Allan (Helen) Malloy of Leduc; He was predeceased by his foster brother Denis (Sylvia) Malloy of Leduc.
