It’s time to celebrate Cochrane, and Canada Day is the perfect time to honour what makes our community and country great.

The COVID-19 pandemic has proven that even when physically separated we find ways to connect and grow stronger as a community.

The ability to rise to the crisis of the virus shows that we are a community committed to ensuring that no one gets lefts behind.

We should be proud and take Canada Day to celebrate how we have banded together to flatten the curve of the COVID-19 infection rate while finding ways to ensure we have reasons to celebrate each other and our community.

The festivities taking place on Wednesday (July 1) will go down in the history books as an example of how even the darkest of times Canadians can find the light.

However, our links as a community do not need to be celebrated only on a single day— We can go forth and embody the values of Canada Day throughout the year.

Take time to connect with neighbours and lend a helping hand when you see someone in need. Even the smallest action can mean the world to the person you are helping.

Our ability to be kind and support each other is what makes Cochrane and Canada such a great place to live.

This Canada Day, take time to reflect and appreciate that we have survived everything 2020 has thrown our way by standing strong together.

This Canada Day breath deep the fresh air, enjoy the fireworks or drive-in movie and go forth asking how you can help make our community and country even better.

Happy Canada Day, eh.
