Dear Guardians of a beautiful gray cat,

Sunday morning I was driving home at 12:15 am along Quigley Drive just past Bethany Care.

Some driver had killed a beautiful gray cat. I stopped, checked the cat then called Animal Control and left a voice mail. Several cars drove around me. They could easily see that there was an animal on the road.

A car with two teens stopped. These two wonderful fellows waited by the cat until I returned with gloves, garbage bags and a box. I prayed that your cat died quickly with the least amount of suffering.

Now I wonder ... Did this cat have a family and it escaped the safety of its home or did its owners allowed this cat to wander the streets at its peril.

I love cats but I no longer have them in town. I have picked up too many dead animals from roadways.

This is a sad moment for the owners and a sad time for the rescuer.

Please keep a license and contact tag on your pets.

Guardians protect the animals in their care.

It is a gift to have a critter share your heart and home.
