FORT MACLEOD, Alta. — Five people have been arrested in the death of a man whose remains were located in a rural area of southern Alberta last year.

RCMP say in a news release that the five were arrested on Friday in the homicide of 35-year-old Lane Tailfeathers.

Police say the charges they'll face, as well as their identities, will be released once the charges are laid.

Tailfeathers was reported missing by his family on June 20, 2021, after police say he hadn't returned to his home in Fort Macleod, Alta.

A month later, Alberta Fish and Wildlife responded to a report of possible human remains, which were later determined to be Tailfeathers.

Police are asking the public to contact them if they have information on Tailfeathers' death.
