Man killed in ‘firearms-related’ incident near Beiseker

Beiseker RCMP is investigating after a 30-year-old man from Saanich, B.C., succumbed to “firearm-related injury” Jan. 23 in the area of Highway 567 and Range Road 280 in Rocky View County.

According to a Jan. 24 release from the detachment, Beiseker RCMP was notified of the incident at about 3 p.m. and, along with along with members from Airdrie and Three Hills RCMP, responded to the scene. Officers “initiated first aid until Emergency Medical Services attended and took over treatment of the injured male,” the release stated.

An autopsy was conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Calgary Jan. 24, police said, and no further details are available at this time. The name of the deceased will not be released, according to the release.

“Beiseker RCMP continue[s] to investigate this incident that is believed to be isolated,” the release stated. “The public is not believed to be at risk.”
