Snow School in Canyon Ski Resort

Winter is upon us and group indoor activities are limited this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is the perfect time to embrace the beauty of an Albertan winter.
9 - Snow School

Downhill skiing and snowboarding are safe and fun ways to get exercise and to enjoy the outdoors.

Ski and snowboard classes are a wonderful way to learn a new sport or freshen up after a long season away from the hill. Canyon Ski Resort in Red Deer offers Snow School for all ages from beginner to advanced skiers and snowboarders. Participants can choose from either group or private lessons depending on what learning style works best for them.

Kids on the Hill

With skiing lessons available for kids as young as four years old and snowboard lessons for kids as young as six years old, Canyon Ski Resort’s Snow School is a great way to encourage kids to embrace an active lifestyle from an early age.

Their Kinder Learn to Ski Program caters to young skiers. Instructors are experienced with little ones and can help them to enjoy their time on the hill while learning useful skills. The goal is for the children to ski independently down the easiest run by the end of four one-hour sessions.

Canyon Ski Resort also offers drop-in camps during Christmas and spring breaks for kids with previous skiing and snowboarding experience. At these camps, kids ski or snowboard with certified instructions all day from 10 am until 4 pm. The day is filled with a ski or snowboard lesson, fun winter games, and interactive drills.

It’s Never Too Late

Learning to ski or snowboard is not just for kids. People of all ages can learn the skills needed for a fun time on the hill. Canyon Ski Resort’s Discover Skiing or Snowboarding introductory program is perfect for the first-time adult skier or snowboarder. It is also a great way to try snow sports again after decades away from the hill. These introductory packages include a beginner area pass, a one-hour group lesson, and a half-day equipment rental. It is just enough to get anyone started on the hill.

All Inclusive

Canyon Ski Resort along with Canadian Adaptive Snowsports Alberta (CADS) offer adaptive ski programs for kids and adults with developmental or physical disabilities. CADS’ main mandate is to assist people with a variety of disabilities to fully enjoy the benefits of snow sports.
