2019 is wrapping up and 2020 is around the corner. People are going to want to ring in the New Year with their friends and family so here are the New Year's Eve events to help the community celebrate the turn of the decade.
FAMILY-FRIENDLY EVENTS
There will be a family-friendly New Year's Eve party on Dec. 31 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre called Pop n' Play to New Year's Day. The event will include a variety of different events such as basketball, floor hockey, archery tag, dodgeball, soccer, dance party and then a countdown to end off the evening. Spray Lake members can get in for $5 a family while it's $15 non-members per family. Register your spot at slssportscentre.maxgalaxycanada.net.
Later in the evening, the Cochrane & Area Events Society will be presenting Cochrane's New Years Family Celebration to Ring in 2020. You are invited to join us on Tuesday, December 31st from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Mitford Park for a festive night full of activities for the entire family to enjoy.
There will be ice skating, DJ Wild Bill will be playing some tunes, a resolution tree, horse carriage rides, fire dancer show, and fireworks. Also included in the evening is hot chocolate, burger and hot dog meals for $2 a person, a large tent for guests to stay warm in and some fun prices.
18+ EVENTS
There will be many local establishments open to help you finish off 2019. One of those will be Half Hitch Brewing Company who will kick off their evening at 9 p.m. and will run until 2 a.m. Adam and Braydon Morisseau, Knight Wolf (Devin Petitclerc) and Nick Isaac will be performing. There will be $4.25 highballs and $5.25 half hitch pints. The event will also feature a midnight cask toast and party favours.
The Venue Bar and Grill will be hosting Envy while also hosting a dinner that begins at 5:30 p.m. with a four-course meal, champagne, confetti blast and treats with tickets going for $40. Then at 9:30 p.m. there will be an Envy dance party where people can come and enjoy the music and dance the night away for $15.
The Legion will join in on the New Year's Eve fun with a dinner and dance that begins at 7 p.m. for $45 for members and $50 for non-members. If you'd like to only come for the dance, entry is at 8 p.m. with members getting in for $25 and non-members for $30. The live entertainment will be done by the Smoking Aces who will play until 1 a.m. with champagne and snacks at midnight.
Cochrane Brewhouse is helping you say goodbye to 2019 with their Happy Brew Year Party with tickets $20 per person. Your ticket includes access to the pizza buffet that starts at 8 p.m., a champagne toast at midnight and free wings for a year.
The Texas Gate will celebrate the New Year's celebrations with a Dance in the New Year party. Electric Mayhem will be performing with a prime rib and lobster buffet that will begin at 7:30 p.m. as well as a midnight buffet and champagne also included. Tickets range from $15 to $65.
The newly named Iron Bridge will have Rob Skeet performing on New Year's Eve with their Welcome to the Roaring '20s. Enjoy a special speakeasy menu after 8 p.m. and a midnight bubbly toast.
