Spring time is in the air and Half Hitch Brewing Company will have all the weekly entertainment to get you through until the summertime.

Half Hitch has a month full of events taking place at their venue. To start off will be AJ Baragar who will be in town on April 25.  Releasing now three records on his own under the name "Rake Fight," AJ Baragar has more recently focused on his solo performances in several different types of venues. From coffee shops to festivals, Baragar has an onstage energy that draws the audience in with catchy original music, a wide variety of cover songs, and interactions with the audience members themselves. Baragar strives to not only perform his music, but to entertain as well.

Following Baragar will be Double Helix on May 2. Core members brother duo Tony and Peter Chotem have been playing guitar together for almost 30 years. Their original compositions and covers draw their listeners into an evocative imaginary world of musical ideas spanning several decades and fusing elements of diverse musical styles.

The following night is the Murder Mystery Night hosted by Half Hitch and the Cochrane Public Library where they will be hosting the first annual Deadwood Poker Tournament. For weeks, people have been pouring into the small Western town of Deadwood for the biggest poker tournament this side of the Mississippi. From outlaws to marshals and saloon girls to southern belles, everyone has made this small Western frontier ther place to be.

As the festivities of the poker tournament conclude, a celebration party is planned at the Deadwood Saloon to award the prize money for the tournament and to celebrate e a very financially successful venture for the saloon.

Those interested in this 18-plus event can register at www.cochranepubliclibrary.ca/content/acom-murder-mystery and the Library will contact you when they have the tickets and character sheets ready to be picked up at the library. Dress to impress and get ready for an evening of delicious brew and murder.

Hanna Taylor will also be at Half Hitch on May 9. Taylor is an up-and-coming singer-songwriter from southern Alberta. Her musical style falls somewhere at the crossroads between folk and jazz, and her lyrics are deeply rooted in both her Canadian and New Zealand heritage.

To round out the group is Neil Speers who will be rocking Half Hitch on May 23. An instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriter, and composer, Speers' songs grip fans on a personal level by exploring the themes of loss and redemption through several music genres like Blues, Canadiana, and Americana. Speers also won a Best Original Soundtrack award for music he composed for an independent video detailing the culture of Calgary.

All shows will start at 7 p.m. with the exception of the Murder Mystery Night which will begin at 6 p.m.
