Cochrane is becoming quite the music hub and Mr. Mike's is joining the fray with Marcus Steiner se to perform at the restaurant on May 2.

"MR MIKES is excited about our recent step to support live music. Our brand is built around an irreverent attitude and comfortable vibe. Our urban lodge is filled with games like Connect four and Giant Jenga. Our menus are designed to be social and share with friends. We believe that adding live, local solo artists to our Thursday Lodge Night format all of these things will come together to create a terrific experience for our customers," the restaurant said in a statement.

"Cochrane is one of three locations chosen to launch this live music program ... as the ultimate goal is to launch the Live in the Lodge program chainwide over 42 locations from Vancouver to Ontario moving into 2020. We look forward to supporting live, local music moving forward. Some things are a perfect fit and we believe this is one."

Marcus Steiner, a guitarist, singer, and songwriter currently based in High River, is considered a versatile musician, who has played solo and in bands of all different genres. He can often be seen around town playing acoustic cover crowd pleasers wide ranging from Neil Young and Johnny Cash to more modern artists such as Cage the Elephant. Don't be fooled by his more folksy repertoire however, Marcus is also especially skilled with putting an acoustic spin on harder tunes from artists such as Rage Against the Machine and Rammstein.

Steiner most often plays acoustic solo shows at various bars and pubs but has also been a part of many different original bands throughout his musical career such as Lies from Elysium, The Mourning After, Headpiece, The PPL and currently three-piece cover band, The Rocky Mountain Maniacs. He is always exploring new musical opportunities so stay tuned to hear about new projects.

"I actually just relocated back to Alberta after living in the Yukon for about seven years," Steiner said of the opportunity to play at MR. MIKE'S here in town. "Coming back to Alberta and having the local music scene respond with open arms is really cool. MR MIKES is actually the first place I played in High River and that gig is how I've ended up coming to Cochrane. I'm just excited to play here."

"I like to mix up the songs I play. You'll here everything from Johnny Cash to Led Zeppelin ... all acoustic and a little something for everyone."

Steiner said he has a message for those who are maybe on the fence about attending the show.

"The beer glass is always half full at one of my gigs."

The show will begin at 7:30 p.m. while MR. MIKES will also be having $5 happy hour which includes bottled beer and a variety of other bites and booze.
