What a sight to behold. Vision Country Gospel Choir is performing at the Springbank United Church on Nov. 28 and everyone is invited to attend the Christmas event.
“We're kind of showoffs; we like performing. We've never done the same show twice in 20 years. We've tried and tried but it just doesn't work out that way, ” said Jim Escott, one of the group's three members.
The trio is made up of Jim Escott (keyboard), Ted Hiscock (12-string guitar) and Dana Tapley (bass guitar).
“It's country gospel. It's upbeat music; all of it's sing-along music, 95 per cent of the time you're going to be able to sing along. We appreciate if you do. ”
Escott said that the part of the show audiences enjoy the most is the emphasis on audience interaction.
“We don't turn the lights down. We use it as a standing joke that we need to read your lips because we can't remember the words because of our age. ”
He said their shows often provide an escape for many elderly people who may not have anyone to celebrate the holidays with.
“It's a very important time to get out to seniors. It's a tough time of the year to for a lot folks that are by themselves. If we can make their problems go away for an hour and if they laugh at us, it really doesn't matter. ”
