Dear editor:

Halloween is all about kids, costumes and candy, but for the Big Hill West Light Horse 4-H Club, it was all about horses, kids, costumes and candy.

On Oct. 30 we had our annual Halloween ride night at the Cochrane Agriculture Society. The kids were put into teams and if they won the activity they won a bucket of candy and split it with their team.

There were three big buckets full of candy and prizes for best costume awards; best horse costume, best rider costume, and best combo costume. Brooke Whitmarsh won best horse costume for dressing her horse as a poodle, Carter Mitschke won best rider costume for dressing as the headless horseman and Rebecca Dal Callo won best combo for both of them dressing as bees.

One of the most fun games was the ‘bobbing’ game, where both horse and rider had to bite into either an apple, a carrot or a horse cookie hanging from a string. It was a great night and a fun start to the Big Hill West Light Horse 4-H Club’s year.
