Fireside ice removal ongoing task

Dear editor: Finally the town is doing something about the Fireside development, but they really need to get its priorities right.

Dear editor:

Finally the town is doing something about the Fireside development, but they really need to get its priorities right.

A bunch of us have been fighting ice and snow all year, and yesterday the bylaw officer showed up and gave me and other neighbours a warning to remove ice from the sidewalk and not put snow on the street (actually the snow bank on the street was from the street and the builder next door so they could get onto the lot). How ironic about four months ago I called about vehicle parking and was informed that they would be given warnings. Last week, I called the town to discuss the state of the road, as it was becoming impassable. I was told to contact the developer and he said, ‘too bad’).

Many Fireside properties have not been graded yet, so the water flows onto the sidewalk, and the ice on the road is above the sidewalk level and when it melts the water cannot drain so it ends up on the sidewalk.

I am not sure whether the builders were also given warnings, as they have not done anything all winter. We will let you know next week how we make out.
