Gaydon an inspiration, says reader

Dear Editor:

I am writing this letter in regards to a wonderful woman, Gaydon Willis.

As so many of us know, she is the lady that has been writing about her cancer diagnosis in the Eagle and what she has gone through since.

I decided to sit down today and write this letter to the editor to thank Gaydon for sharing this journey she has been on and continues to be on, with all of us.

I have had several friends and family who have been through the ups and downs that cancer brings. I know my one girlfriend felt that she was burdening her family and friends with the uncertainty and questions that she had. She said that one cannot truly know what it’s like until they have gone through it themselves. Sometimes sitting down and quietly reading what others are going through makes you feel not so alone. I think that she would have loved to have been able to read about Gaydon’s experience.

So, I am writing this today to say “Thank you Gaydon, so much, for sharing your story with us.”

To all those people who are going through what you are going through, and have been through, I know they are grateful. Even if the readers have not been affected by cancer, I know that reading your story is truly inspirational, and the fact that you are willing to share it with so many is beyond words.

The world needs more people like you. People who reach out, not when things are going their way, but when they may be struggling. That is the time that we all need help and encouragement more than ever.

God bless you, Gaydon.
