Heritage Drive dog owners not taking care of business

Dear Editor:

With the recent changes proposed to the town’s by-laws regarding infractions for which dog owners can be fined, this letter is very timely.

Along both sides of Heritage Drive in the vicinity of the storm water retention pond, some irresponsible dog owners have not picked up after their dogs. Do these folks not realize that during the spring thaw all the remains of the feces are going into the road drains and ultimately into the Bow River — a river that you and or your children may wade in during the summer or fish in? Not picking up after your dog is a serious health issue to your dog, my dog, my family and your family.

My husband now refuses to walk our dog along Heritage Drive because of the mess along the sidewalks. I think too he is tired of picking up after your dog. Come on Heritage Hills dog owners. Let’s all keep our neighborhood clean and healthy — one that we can be proud of.
