Judicial review opposite to democracy

Recently, the town council voted unanimously to defeat the development on the Jones Estate. This was a result of public consultation and input.

Recently, the town council voted unanimously to defeat the development on the Jones Estate.
This was a result of public consultation and input.

During the public hearing, other than the developer, there was not one person in favour of this development for legitimate reasons. Defeating this application was the right thing to do. This is what I call democracy.

However, the applicant (Hazkar) has issued notice of a judicial review.

It seems to me that the applicant shows absolutely no respect whatsoever for democracy, the town council, and the wishes of the people of Cochrane. This should worry all of us.

Why are they doing it? Are they trying bullying their way through this?

Is there something that we don’t know?

Were there mistakes made during the process?

If mistakes were made, were there mistakes made on other development applications as well?

If Hazkar wins this review, do we as a community have any say or input in future developments or for that matter any other issues? Has council then no power to defeat or approve applications anymore?

With other words, does democratic mean anything?

Regardless, I call upon the council to stop all new development applications until we know the outcome of this review.
