Timmy the snowman looking for a place to call home

Dear Editor:

In what is surely the most heartbreaking story yet to develop this winter, a WinterFest papier-mâché snowman, affectionately named ‘Timmy’, has been left behind.

While Timmy’s 20 brother snowmen were quickly adopted by loving corporations and happy businesses, Timmy, for no clear reason, was left without a family to love and care for.

“We are devastated,” said Timmy’s creator, Marlise Rockwell (403-851-1158, Soul Studio Art).

“Timmy tries so hard, he stays up every night just watching through the garage window to see if the next set of headlights will be a business stopping to choose him. It’s just so sad.”

Timmy, only three months old, is wise enough to realize that if he isn’t selected quickly, he’ll soon turn into an awkward teenage snowman, and the hard reality is that the older the snowman, the less likely he’ll ever be adopted.

Timmy doesn’t need much. He’s happy with a patch of frozen ground and a bit of decorating to make him look festive.”

I admit that Timmy is in a fragile state.

Well, after all, he is made of papier-mâché.

The Cochrane WinterFest committee, Timmy’s family for the time being, are pleading for someone to give Timmy a home for the holidays, to dress him up, and to display him through the month of January leading right up to the third annual Cochrane WinterFest.

“He just sits and sings that sad song from the Island of Misfit Toys,” sighed Marlise. “It breaks my heart.”
