The Town of Cochrane and International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) held a meeting on March 26 to discuss the pending collective agreement between the two parties, and according to IAFF president Jared Wallace the talks were a move in the right direction.
“I’m pleased to report it was a productive meeting that has set the stage for further discussion to resume,” said Wallace. “It appears as though we will be continuing to collaboratively work towards a negotiated settlement ahead of our scheduled compulsory interest arbitration in the fall.”
They had not met since June 2012 prior to the March 26 meeting. The arbitration process is still scheduled to take place this fall.
