Active cases of COVID-19 in Cochrane jump to 30, Bow Valley High School reports outbreak

As of the end of the day Wednesday (March 3) the town had a reported 30 active cases of the virus. To date, 352 cases of COVID-19 have been identified in Cochrane. Two schools in the region are reporting active COVID-19 cases. Bow Valley High School has reported an outbreak of 10 or more cases and Cochrane High School is on alert for a reported two to four cases of the virus.

COCHRANE— In the last 24-hours, the number of active COVID-19 cases in Cochrane has increased by 13.

As of the end of the day Wednesday (March 3) the town had a reported 30 active cases of the virus. To date, 352 cases of COVID-19 have been identified in Cochrane— Two people have died and 320 people have recovered.

Two schools in the region are reporting multiple cases of the virus. Bow Valley High School has reported an outbreak of 10 or more cases and Cochrane High School is on alert for a reported two to four cases of COVID-19.

Alberta Minister of Health Tyler Shandro announced Thursday the province expects to have offered every adult in the province a dose of the COVID-19 vaccine by June 30. Booking for Phase 2A of the vaccine rollout will begin the week of March 15.

In Alberta, 266,000 doses of COVID-19 have been administered to date, including 90,000 patients being fully immunized with two doses.

Over the last 24 hours, 321 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Alberta after the completion of 9,500 tests.

The provincial testing positivity rate sits at 3.6 per cent.

There are a reported 245 COVID-related hospitalizations in Alberta, including 47 patients in intensive care.

The province reported nine additional COVID-related deaths Thursday. To date, 1,911 Albertans have died.

There are 4,613 active cases of COVID-19 in Alberta.
