Bragg Creek brings out the 'Spirit of Christmas'

As the advent calendars roll out next week, counting down the days until Santa touches down, the Bragg Creek Spirit of Christmas Event will be back for four days dedicated to spreading Christmas cheer.

As the advent calendars roll out next week, counting down the days until Santa touches down, the Bragg Creek Spirit of Christmas Event will be back for four days dedicated to spreading Christmas cheer.

Bragg Creek residents and visitors can anticipate the little hamlet to be lit-up in bright colours, complete with visits from Santa and his reindeer, sleigh rides and various family activities put on by local businesses, including ice sculpting, from noon-4 p.m. on Dec. 1,2,8 and 15.

Louise-Marie Eagar with the Bragg Creek Chamber of Commerce and event facilitator said one highlight this year is that Bragg Creek’s Spirit of Christmas Event was the sole Alberta listing in the December, 2012 edition of Canadian Living magazine (on page 112) in an article listing Christmas highlights from coast to coast across Canada.

“What we’re trying to achieve is to make our neighbours aware of Bragg Creek and get people out to enjoy Christmas,” said Eagar.

“Last year, the increase in traffic from the year before was tremendous,” she added.

The event is sponsored by participating businesses and the Bragg Creek Chamber of Commerce; to learn more, contact the Chamber at 403-949-0004.
