CAES ready to 'stuff a bus' for the food bank

It’s time to deck the bus in unwrapped presents. This Dec. 1 from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m., the Cochrane and Area Events Society (CAES) is doing their part to pitch in for the Activettes ‘Share Your Christmas’ hamper-stuffing campaign.

The Southland bus will be open for donations in the Cochrane Canadian Tire parking lot this Saturday, gratefully receiving gifts in the form of presents or non-perishable food donations.

“This is our second annual Stuff-A-Bus event,” said CAES director, Brooks Tower. “We’re ecstatic we can position ourselves right in the middle of the Canadian Tire parking lot.”

Tower said there will be music and decorations aplenty and that the goal is, of course, to stuff the bus to capacity.

“This is a great opportunity for CAES to help the Activettes out at this time of year.”

Last year, the Activettes ‘Share Your Christmas’ hamper campaign provided some 115 hampers; in 2010, 140 hampers were given to Cochrane and area families in need.

Those in need of a Christmas hamper must contact the Activettes prior to Dec. 22.

The Activettes can be reached at 403-932-9290; monetary donations can be mailed to Box 535, Cochrane, Alta., T4C
