Care in the Creek to have grand-opening celebration

Care in the Creek Medical Centre, the new health -care facility that opened Aug. 15 in Bragg Creek, will hold its official grand opening on Oct. 13.

Cracking its doors nearly two months ago, the clinic has seen a good response thus far, with a steady flow of new patients.

The facility is still in need of several higher-end appliances, such as a cold-chain fridge, which is used to store items that need to be temperature controlled, like vaccines. The clinic would also like to get remote -controlled beds that can be adjusted for seniors and children.

The second phase of fundraising is set to go ahead once Mountain Woods Health Services — the non-profit company that worked for years to open Care in the Creek — speaks with the clinics physicians to determine what the facility is still in need of.

The clinic currently operates with limited hours, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., but said they will work to accommodate those who cannot visit the facility between those hours.

Eventually, the hours will be extended to 5 p.m. on a permanent basis.

Along with accepting regularly scheduled patient appointments, the clinic is also open to walk-ins.

Currently, there are three physicians on staff who share a five-day work week, rotating through Monday to Friday.

Dr. Sara Wiesenberg, a local Bragg Creek physician, will provide the majority of the coverage.

The grand opening will take place at the medical centre at 2 p.m. and will include a ceremony and cake from the Bragg Creek Ladies Auxiliary.
