Cat adoption event at Cochrane and Area Humane Society

“There are so many beautiful cats that we’re looking for a home for.”

If you’ve been looking for a whiskered furry companion, look no further.

The Cochrane and Area Humane Society is hosting Winter Whiskers, a cat adoption event from Friday until Sunday. The society has acquired more than 800 cats this year. They currently have 133 cats, including 42 kittens.

“All year has really been the year of the cat for us,” said Janine Rossler, spokesperson from the society. Rossler said 18 cats came into the society just last week.

“There are so many beautiful cats that we’re looking for a home for.”

The event is open during the society’s business hours. Each cat is listed on their website with a photo and short bio.

“Start falling in love there,” Rossler said of their website.

Rossler says if a family is looking to adopt the entire family should attend the event and meet any prospective cats in person. She reinforced that adopting an animal is a family decision.

One of the society’s cats named Bob has been at their facility for nine months. Rossler would love to see Bob adopted before the holidays.

Most of the cats were acquired through surrenders or rescued as stray cats. During the adoption process the society will interview potential candidates to ensure they are a perfect fit for the needs of the cat.
