Charges laid against two from Morley

Firearm discharged near Morley.

Cochrane RCMP received a complaint around 1 a.m. on March. 31 that a firearm had been discharged at a residence near Morley. When RCMP arrived on scene a vehicle was fleeing the residence and was used to ram a police cruiser. This vehicle was later determined to have been stolen. The driver of the vehicle was arrested and taken into custody. 

27-year-old Tylane Edward Hunter is charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, flight from police, assault with a weapon on a police officer, driving while prohibited and driving without insurance. 

Upon further investigation, Cochrane RCMP have also arrested and charged 33-year-old Andrew Leigh Pooreagle of Morley with multiple offences including, assault with a weapon, uttering threats, breaking and entering, possession of a restricted firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, failure to comply with a firearms prohibition order, unauthorized possession of a firearm in an unauthorized place, possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition, possession of a weapon obtained by commission of an offence and discharging a firearm with intent. 

No injuries were sustained as a result of the discharged firearm and the officer who was in the vehicle when it was rammed was not injured. The investigation is ongoing. 

Both Hunter and Pooreagle will appear in court on April 7, 2020.
