Charges laid in abduction of two Cochrane girls

COCHRANE— RCMP have charged Alison O’Driscoll, 38, and Therese O’Driscoll, 68, for the alleged abduction of Leonine O’Driscoll-Zak, two, and Wyatt O’Driscoll-Zak, five.

The duo has been charged with— Forcible confinement contrary to section 279(2) of the Criminal Code, abduction of a person under the age of 14 contrary to section 281 of the Criminal Code, abduction in contravention of a parenting order contrary to section 282(1) of the Criminal Code and abduction contrary to section 283 of the Criminal Code.

Leonine and Wyatt were located Thursday (April 15) after a month-long search by the RCMP. The girls had been missing since March 12.

The Alberta RCMP Serious Crimes Branch located the girls in the Columbia Valley, B.C.

The RCMP is currently in the process of having both of the accused returned to Alberta.

The two children are safe and being cared for by Children's Services.
