Christmas Market on Nov. 24

With Christmas shopping in full swing, there’s one more market that Cochranites might be interested in perusing this weekend.

The second annual Cochrane Christmas Market will be held at the RancheHouse from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Nov. 24.

“It’s free admission, but we’re taking food bank donations for the Activettes at the door,” said organizer, Roz Edge-Kossowan, who picked up the event last year, which had stopped running for several years previously.

Edge-Kossowan said there will be 90 tables this year, with some 80 vendors filling the slots; last year, she had 34 vendors.

Vendors hail from Cochrane, Calgary and surrounding areas and will be marketing such wares as artwork, photography, stained glass, candles and lotions, baking and children’s items, among other homemade goodies.

“Winter Photograph-ics will be taking Santa photos from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and donating proceeds to the Cochrane and Area Boys and Girls Club,” said Edge-Kossowan.

“I’ve lived in Cochrane my entire life. I’m a photographer myself and I wanted a way to promote my own work, while doing something that would support other local artists at this time of year.”

With all the tables sold out, Edge-Kossowan is hoping for an even better turnout this year.
