Cochrane growth up 5.4 per cent

Cochrane’s growth rate is up 5.4 per cent from 2011, according to the Cochrane Planning Department’s November development report. “That’s certainly on the healthy side of growth,” said councillor Tara McFadden.

“That’s certainly on the healthy side of growth,” said councillor Tara McFadden. “When we’re looking ahead (transit, Open Spaces Master Plan, Domtar site) that’s the type of growth we have to plan for.”

As of Dec. 31, 2011, Cochrane’s population was 17,684; on Nov. 28, 2012, the population was estimated at 18,642.
