Cochrane in Brief

Live music makes a comeback

Music lovers rejoice! As public health restrictions ease, and things open back up, live music is once again on the menu of activities to enjoy. To celebrate the return of live shows, the Cochrane Music Society is getting back together once again and entertaining the community with a free performance on Saturday (July 24) at 2 p.m. at the Cochrane Ranche. Sing-alongs and dancing are encouraged. Visit the Cochrane Music Society on Facebook for more information.

Seniors Lodge Cruise

Once again showing their support for the community’s senior citizens, Cruise Cochrane is gathering Cochrane’s car enthusiasts for a Senior’s Lodge Cruise. The Senior’s Lodge Cruise started as a way for the community’s gear heads to show their support for Cochrane’s seniors in 2020 during the height of the pandemic. On August 7, from noon to 3 p.m., Cruise Cochrane will be making the rounds to senior’s facilities in town to show off some seriously slick rides to the delight of the residents and staff of the facilities. Visit cruisecochrane.ca for information on how to register and show your support for some of Cochrane’s most vulnerable.

Bragg Creek Performing Arts

With support from the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, SOCAN and Rocky View County, Bragg Creek Performing Arts is hosting Car-Chella, a live music festival in the parking lot of the Bragg Creek Shopping Centre on Monday (July 26) at 7 p.m. Come out and enjoy the show from the comfort of your car as the Waltzing Matildas, The Travelling Maybels and Billy and the Kid and others take the stage and perform their hits for the community. Tickets are $25 per car, and can be purchased online at braggcreekperformingarts.com/.
