Visit Cochrane Programs, Activities and Opportunities on Facebook for a link to register.

Food for Thought

Rocky View Schools is making several generous donations to community organizations in Cochrane and the surrounding area. Food for Thought is a program run by Rocky View Schools that aims to promote healthy eating habits and healthy food for students across the school district. During the pandemic, with schools periodically closed, the funding for the program has not been utilized in a normal way. Rocky View Schools has redistributed the funds and donated $5,000 to the Cochrane Food Bank to address increased needs, and another $5,000 to the Cochrane Food Bank to offer food support to families during this summer, $2,000 to the Cochrane Community Free Food Shed and $1,000 and a mini-fridge to the Cochrane Community Learning Centre to store non-perishable food items for students in need.

Grizzly bear spotted near Bragg Creek

Bragg Creek Trails reported an adult grizzly bear was spotted on the popular Braggin Rights trail on Sunday (June 13). The group is encouraging visitors to be bear aware and be prepared for wildlife encounters and other potential situations that could arise when out on the trails. Hikers are encouraged to carry bear spray, travel in groups and Google "Kananaskis Bear Safety" for more information.
