Cochrane in Brief

RancheView School upgraded to watch

RancheView School has been upgraded to watch status, as five or more cases of COVID-19 have been identified at the school in the last two weeks. The school’s COVID situation was declared an outbreak earlier this month, but the school received notice from Alberta Health Services a fifth child had tested positive for the virus on Monday (Oct. 12), principal Sharon Cronin confirmed in a letter sent to parents. Cronin also noted the child who tested positive had not attended school during their communicable period. Additional safety measures may be put in place due to the elevated status and Alberta Health Services is working with the school to monitor the situation.

Heritage Treasure’s Fall Market

The Heritage Treasure’s Fall Market will be going ahead this Saturday (Oct. 24) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday (Oct. 25) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Heritage Centre barn at 4148 Highway 580 one mile east of Cremona. Sixty local vendors will be in attendance displaying their artisanal, hand-made crafts, treasures and trinkets. The event will also feature a 50/50 raffle fundraiser with all proceeds going to the Mountain View Food Bank. For more information email Debora at [email protected] or [email protected]/.

Table Top Vendors

Just in time for the holiday season, the Cochrane Legion is hosting a tabletop vendor sale every Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. Each week, the Legion will be hosting four Cochrane-based businesses who will be setting up shop with their wares, selling kitchen supplies, health and wellness items and home-made crafts. There will be refreshments and snacks available at the weekly event. Each week the Legion will be posting updates of the businesses rotating through on The Royal Canadian Legion Cochrane Branch Facebook page. For more information, contact the Legion at 403-932-2011.
