Cochrane Legion to hold Remembrance Day service

The Cochrane Legion will be hosting its annual Remembrance Day services this Nov. 11.

The Cochrane Legion will be hosting its annual Remembrance Day services this Nov. 11.

Beginning at Cochrane High School, the services will be led by All Saints Anglican Reverend Greg Clark and will include performances by the Cochrane Pipe Band and the Cochrane Children’s Choir, as well as guest speakers and attendance by Sergeant John Cotton (Korean War) and Shaun Arntsen (Afghanistan veteran), among others.

After a long procession down the hill to the Cenotaph at the Cochrane Legion, former Eagle publisher Jack Tennant will emcee the remainder of the services, including the laying of the wreaths.

“I’ve never missed a Remembrance Day service in my life,” said this year’s poppy campaign manager and services coordinator Patsy Parker, who comes from a long line of servicemen and has been a Cochrane Legion member for 10 years.

Those honouring loved ones, past and present, are encouraged to join the hundreds of Cochrane and area residents who will be paying homage to veterans lost on Monday.
