The 2013 Cochrane and District Chamber of Commerce Trade Show has announced an all-star talent competition, and any amateur performers are invited to battle it out for bragging rights.

Singers, dancers and comedians are all eligible to compete, as long as the talent has entertainment value. A prize of $500 will be award in the youth division, and $1,000 for the adult.

“We really are looking to celebrate all of the creative and talented people of this region,” said Kelly Phelan, marketing and talent consultant for Exhibit Installation Services. “Cochrane has an interesting mix of businesses and creative artists, and we want to showcase both.”

Those under the age of 13 must have their entry submitted by a parent or guardian.

Semi-finals for the talent competition will be held towards the end of April, with the finals held at the Cochrane Trade Show May 10 and 11.

Phelan said trade show organizers are working in conjunction with Legacy Guitar House to put on a marquee concert Saturday night (May 11). She added that the winner from both divisions will have an opportunity to perform onstage as the opening acts. The headlining act hasn’t been determined.

Those interested in participating in the talent search have until midnight March 29 to enter. Submission are already being accepted on the 2013 Cochrane and District Chamber of Commerce Trade Show Facebook page.

The trade show will be held at the Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre on May 10 from 4-9 p.m. and May 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
