With a delicious line-up of local restaurants, food-based boutiques and watering holes, this weekend’s Taste of Cochrane is set and ready to tempt tastebuds.
Slated to run Oct. 5, the food-and-drink themed event has no set schedule or start point.
Instead, tasters are urged to begin at whichever of the participating establishments they choose and venture on from there.
The event will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The sampling event was re-introduced this year in a brainstorming session between Brooks Tower and Ron Knowles.
In a September interview with the Cochrane Eagle, Tower said the purpose of the event was two-fold: to introduce Cochranites to many of the food and beverage establishments in the town, as well as to expose the businesses to new customers.
As of press time, 17 local establishments have signed on for the event. It is asked that participants refrain from returning to establishments they’ve already sampled.
Participants range from the newly opened Tim’s Gourmet Pizza (offering a variety pack of pizzas) and Jaipur India Cuisine (offering a sampling of their house specialties), to Bergeron Cheese Shoppe (offering cheese samples) and Vinestone Wine Co. (offering samples of their fine wines).
A free bus shuttle, courtesy of Fenton Bus Lines, will be available to take tasters to and from different areas of town, enabling them to make the most of the event. The bus will be making stops in the Sears parking lot, the Rexall Drugs parking lot, at Vinestone Wine Co., Prairie Smoke Restaurant and Pat’s Palate Pleasers at the Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre.
Although free, the shuttle service will accept donations for an anti-bullying campaign.
