The Chinook Film Group movie aficionados welcome the warmth of fall and the arrival of Alberta Arts Days this Sept. 28 with their premier screening of the 2012-13 season, Ai Weiwei: Never Sorry.
The flick is a critically-acclaimed documentary by first-time director, Alison Klayman.
The story is of Ai Weiwei, China’s most famous and controversial artist, who has endured remarkable oppression, abuse and wrath at the hands of the Chinese government for his bold stance against the communist regime.
“We chose this film due to its theme of artistic expression in an oppressive society, and the refusal of the artist to be discouraged from his work,” said Murray Mitchell from the group; tickets are $10 from Java Jamboree or Video Experts for the 7 p.m. screening at the Cochrane Movie House.
