Indigenous author celebration this weekend

There will be quite the ensemble of prominent Indigenous authors taking over The Links of Gleneagles Golf Course this Saturday (Feb 22). Richard Van Camp, Aaron Paquette, Diana Frost and Trent Fox will all be in attendance guiding the day's event through workshops as well as sharing insights from their novels.  

For those interested there will be two workshops to attend. Richard Van Camp will be running a Reclaiming Family Stories writing workshop from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. (participants in this workshop are required to bring their own laptop or writing materials) followed by a Spirit Doll workshop hosted by Diana Frost and Shelley May (more commonly known as the Metis Mamma) from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

The event is free but tickets are required. Contact the Cochrane Public Library to secure your tickets as they are going fast and are now first come, first served. Lunch will also be provided and there will be a panel discussion in the afternoon followed by a prize draw and book signing segment to finish off the day.

The Indigenous author celebration runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.and will be sure to leave you feeling inspired and appreciative.
