Lions to lead Labour Day Parade

The Cochrane and Area Events Society (CAES) has announced the grand marshal for the 2013 Cochrane Labour Day Parade.

The Cochrane and Area Events Society (CAES) has announced the grand marshal for the 2013 Cochrane Labour Day Parade.

This year — in recognition of their 50th year as a group — the Cochrane Lions Club has been selected to lead the annual event, to be held Sept. 2.

“The Lions have been the heart of Cochrane for 50 years, making this town a better place for all of us,” said parade director Brooks Tower in a media release. “It’s a privilege for the parade committee to have the chance to honour them in this way.”

The formal announcement will be made at the Riversong Community Celebration — fitting as this year’s parade is presented by the community of Riversong.

The annual Cochrane Labour Day Parade is the town’s largest one-day event, with more than 12,000 spectators lining the route.
