COCHRANE— Rocky View Schools' families received letters from the division Saturday (May 1) and Sunday (May 2) indicating students at Mitford School, Fireside School and Westbrook School will be moving to online learning.

Rocky View Schools requested and received approval from Alberta education to temporarily move to online learning starting Monday (May 3).

Mitford and Westbrook students will remain online until May 14 and will resume in-person learning on May 17.

Fireside students will remain online until Friday (May 7) and resume in-school classes on Monday (May 10).

Currently, Bow Valley High School, Cochrane High School, RancheView School, St. Timothy School and the Cochrane Christian Academy are currently listed as having outbreaks of five or more cases. Manachaban Middle School is on alert for two to four cases of the virus.

The division cited the large number of COVID-19 close contact isolations necessitating the move. Despite the increase in isolations, the letter noted the number of cases within the schools remains low.

During their time online students will be provided with a weekly learning plan and opportunities to connect with teachers and classmates.

More to come.
