Mitford Ponds will soon be stocked with fish for another season, according to Terry Robertson, manager of parks and facilities at the Town of Cochrane.

“We usually get fish in the ponds by late May or early June,” he said. “(Residents) can expect the fish in the next week or two.”

The ponds are stocked annually with rainbow trout and provide an opportunity for local families to fish together and for first-timers to learn the ropes.

“The ponds are for the kids (13 years and under) to try their hand at fishing — even taking one fish home,” said Robertson.

For adults, fishing at the Mitford

Ponds is strictly catch and release using barbless hooks and no bait. Pond rules are posted on site.
