The date for plea for the former Cochrane homebuilding company Modena Homes and its owner Navin Maghera has been set for Oct. 30 in Cochrane’s criminal court.

Maghera pleaded not guilty to several previous charges filed by Service Alberta after they received complaints claiming the accused had taken monetary deposits for homes in the MonTerra on Cochrane Lakes area that were either not built or only partially complete.

The supposed offences – numbering 16 in total for fraud over $5,000 and theft over $5,000 – took place in 2008 and 2009 and amounted to more than $200,000 in combined losses.

Maghera will bring his plea forward during his next court appearance to address additional charges toward Modena Homes.

A trial date is also expected to be set on Oct. 30.
