UPDATE: Passenger succumbs to injuries in motorcycle-deer collision near Cochrane

UPDATE: The 56-year-old female passenger that was involved in a collision between a motorcycle and a deer just outside of Cochrane earlier this afternoon (July 19) has succumbed to her injuries, according to Cochrane RCMP.

UPDATE: A 56-year-old female passenger that was involved in a collision between a motorcycle and a deer just outside of Cochrane on the afternoon of July 19 succumbed to her injuries later that day, according to Cochrane RCMP.

The collision sent both the 67-year-old male driver and the passenger of the motorcycle to hospital in critical condition. 

According to RCMP, the Cochrane detachment, along with fire and emergency services were called to the incident at 1:13 p.m. It occurred on Highway 22, north of Fireside Gate. 

Traffic was no longer being re-routed as of 3:40 p.m. 

"Cochrane RCMP send their sincerest condolences to the families and loved ones affected by this tragedy," reads a press release from RCMP media relations. 

The name of the deceased will not be released.
