Northstar Ford group raises over $100,000 for two worthy causes

Cochrane’s Northstar Ford, together with the Northstar Ford group’s dealerships in Calgary, Fort McMurray and Fort McKay, raised more than $106,000 for the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation and the Edge School Foundation.

Cochrane’s Northstar Ford, together with the Northstar Ford group’s dealerships in Calgary, Fort McMurray and Fort McKay, raised more than $106,000 for the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation and the Edge School Foundation.

The money was raised during the second annual Northstar Ford Group charity poker tournament on March 3.

“One of our core values at Northstar Ford is that we support the communities that support us,” commented Marty Giles, dealer principal of the group, in a recent press release. “Calgary, Cochrane, Fort McMurray and Fort McKay have been so good to our team. We are grateful that we were able to participate, along with other philanthropists, to pull off an incredible result that was beyond our expectations.”

One hundred and twenty-eight players tried their hand at the poker event, but it was Fort McMurray’s Michael Fouts who bested the crowd.

Proceeds from the event will be spent well at both charities. Funds to the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation will go towards child health, research and family-centred care.

The funds donated to the Edge School Foundation was dedicated specifically to provide financial assistance to enable students to enroll in either the Calgary or Fort McMurray program.

Poker aside, the tournament included a silent auction, jersey auction, a raffle to win a 2013 Ford Edge and a live auction that featured a one-on-one dinner and meet-and-greet with Mark Messier.
