Cochrane RCMP detachment commander, David Brunner. The Cochrane RCMP are holding a town hall to hear from residents at the Ranchehouse April 13.

UPDATE: The date of the town hall has changed from April 13 to April 27, according to an April 11 Cochrane RCMP press release.

Cochrane residents can pose questions, comments and concerns about policing in the community and surrounding areas next Wednesday.

The Cochrane RCMP are holding a community town hall April 27 at the Cochrane RancheHouse, in the Aspen room.

Cst. Bonnie Sauve said the Cochrane RCMP want to discuss issues in the community with residents and will use that information to guide their response.

“We are inviting people to ask questions about our community and communities in the area that we serve,” Sauve said.

Detachment commander Dave Brunner, who took the post almost a year ago has been wanting to have an in-person discussion with residents, Sauve said, but COVID did not allow for it.

“He wants people to come out and be open and frank,” said Sauve.

The detachment’s sergeant and staff sergeant will also be at the town hall.

The discussion at the town hall will influence police response, she said.

“Our detachment commander will implement the questions to modify policing services and how we respond to the public to better our response to the community’s needs,” Sauve said.

The town hall will get started at 7:30 p.m.
