Rocky View County (RVC) council members elected Division 9 (Cochrane) councillor Paul McLean as the county’s new deputy reeve during their Oct. 23 meeting.
“It is a privilege to serve the people of the county as deputy reeve and I appreciate the support from council,” said McLean, who replaces Margaret Bahcheli, who was appointed to the position following the passing of Rick Butler in December 2011. “I welcome the opportunity to serve in this role and will continue to work with my fellow councillors and administration to position ourselves to meet the needs of our citizens.”
Rolly Ashdown was re-elected as the county reeve; he was elected to his first term as councillor of Division 4 in 2010, while McLean was elected for his fourth.
“This past year has been a successful one,” said Ashdown, “though not without challenges. We will carry on delivering the high-quality services Rocky View residents and businesses appreciate.”
Several councillors and members of the public were also appointed to various committees and boards and will be notified by letter.
