RVS appoints new prinicipals

Rocky View Schools have recently named Murray Arnold as the incoming principal of Rocky View Schools Community Learning Centre. Effective as of Aug.

Rocky View Schools have recently named Murray Arnold as the incoming principal of Rocky View Schools Community Learning Centre.

Effective as of Aug. 2013, Arnold will be leaving his position as the assistant principal of Cochrane High School to work at the Airdrie-based centre, which accommodates students from Grade 1-12.

“As a strong advocate of our Community Learning Centre, Murray is the perfect fit for this role,” stated Susan Williams, acting superintendent of schools, in a media release. “His experience in fostering a student-centric learning environment where students can access education any time, any place and at any pace will serve the centre and its learners well.”

During his tenure at CHS, Arnold helped lead a number of projects, such as the weConnect programming, Personally Owned Devices and some joint programming with Bow Valley High School.

In addition, Karen Dittrick has been named as the principal of Springbank Community High School.

“Karen is a visionary and passionate instructional leader,” said Williams, “who has the ability to inspire others to constantly seek out innovative ways to engage learners.”

Also coming into effect this August, Dittrick will be beginning her Rocky View Schools career, after spending 18-years working with the Calgary Board of Education, Christ the Redeemer Catholic Schools Division, Edmonton Public Schools and — most recently — the University of Calgary.
