COCHRANE— The Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre has had its first confirmed case of COVID-19.

In a newsletter sent out on Sunday (Sept. 6) the Sports Centre indicated an individual who recently visited the facility tested positive for the virus.

The individual reportedly attended a Summer Camp and Junior Lifeguard assessment in the last few days.

The Sports Centre has been in communication with Alberta Health Services and has provided a contact tracing log. Alberta Health Services is now in the process of contacting individuals who may have come in contact with the infected individual regarding the next steps.

Staff at the facility who have potentially been impacted will be off work until a confirmed negative test is provided and a quarantine period takes place.

The Sports Centre is working with Alberta Health Services to review the situation and study the current protocols and procedures.

The newsletter states Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre has been preparing for a COVID-19 case at the facility and this has been part of the controlled phased approach to re-opening.
