The spray park will be free for all from 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. beginning tomorrow, with access solely through the outside gate and no access through the Jayman BUILT Aquatic Centre. Morning access from 8 a.m.-11 a.m. will be for SLSFSC members and paid users - with access only available through the pool.

Families will no longer pay to play at the spray park located at Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre (SLSFSC).

This morning (June 3), SLSFSC announced the news – which is a result of a joint venture between the Cochrane Lions Club and the Rotary Club of Cochrane, both committing to a five-year sponsorship of the spray park that was built in 2017 as part of the facility expansion to build the new pool/curling centre.

The spray park opened up June 4 for the summer 2019 season.

"BRECS is pleased to support summer family fun at the SLSFSC Spray Park this year and for the next four years," said Bob Smid, BRECS chair in a press release this morning.

"The support is part of the continuing BRECS commitment to assist community-based organizations to conduct projects, events and activities that develop and enhance our community."

Spray park hours are 11 a.m.-8 p.m. to the general community, where the community can access the spray park through the outside gate (no access through the Jayman BUILT Aquatic Centre).

The spray park will be open from 8 a.m.-11 a.m. but will ONLY be available to SLSFSC members and drop-in users users, with access available only through the pool.

The SLSFSC has confirmed that washroom use will be available through the facility, rather than outdoor bathrooms.

There will be picnic tables and umbrellas set up on the grass area and snacks will be available for cart purchase on some days.

“Thanks to the commitment and contributions of supporters such as BRECS, we are in a good position to continue to better serve the community," said SLSFSC chief operating officer Heath Miller. "We are the centre in Cochrane that brings thousands of people in the community and surrounding areas together to enjoy fun activities. It is our desire to ensure SLSFSC is accessible to everyone by removing barriers. This is one of the best ways to encourage kids to be active and have some fun.”

The SLSFSC was opened in 2001 and is a joint partnership between the Town of Cochrane and Rocky View County, operated by the SLSFSC board.
